    Bearcat Food Pantry

    About the Pantry

The Bearcat Food Pantry was established in 2022 with the generous support of The Petrie Foundation. The purpose of the Pantry is to provide Baruch students, who face food insecurity, access to healthy and nutritious food to help support their path towards graduation. Along with the Pantry, students who do not have regular access to food are able to request a “Grab and Go” bag, containing three small meals to help students get through the day. The “Grab and Go” bags may be picked up from the Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Student Life, or the Student Health Care Center.

    Eligibility Requirements

To utilize the pantry, you must be an enrolled CUNY student. While the Pantry is designed for the needs of Baruch students, we are happy to welcome students from across CUNY who may find our pantry conveniently located. Regardless of home campus, we ask all students to complete a short form before visiting the pantry.

    Items Available

The food in the pantry includes dry goods, such as canned vegetables, rice, beans, cereal, olive oil, canned tuna, etc. Our refrigerators carry dairy (milk of all types) and frozen meat (ground beef, ground turkey and chicken).  The inventory is constantly changing, and we are happy to adjust to meet students’ needs. We carry Kosher and Halal options as well. All items are available while the supplies last, and many items have limits on the number each student can claim. In upcoming months, we hope to be carrying toiletries and other non-food needs.

Students are encouraged to bring their own bags for transporting the items home. We do have some bags available (both plastic and reusable), but depending on the order you place, you may wish to bring a bag that meets your needs.
