    Hotlines and Support

    Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Please click the “Make an appointment” button on our home page to make an appointment or email us at
    Counseling@baruch.cuny.edu. Our highly qualified team of mental health professionals is here to help.

    If an emergency arises outside office hours, please call 911 or visit the emergency room of your nearest hospital. Check here for a list of hospitals in the New York City area.

    24/7 Hotlines for Depression, Anxiety, Stress and Other mental health concerns

    • NYC WELL 24/7 hotline for mental health and substance use concerns. Hotline is available to youth and adults through phone/text/chat and interpreters are available for over 200 languages.
    • Veterans Crisis Line 24/7 mental health and substance use hotline for Veterans. Hotline is available through phone/text/chat.
    • Trevor Lifeline 24/7 crisis intervention hotline for LGBTQIA. Hotline is available through phone/text/chat.
    • RAINN 24/7 hotline for sexual assault. Hotline is through chat.

    Alcohol, Drug use & Problem Gambling

    • NYC WELL 24/7 hotline for mental health and substance use concerns. Hotline is available to youth and adults through phone/text/chat and interpreters are available for over 200 languages.
    • OASAS HOPEline 24/7 hotline for substance use and problem gambling. Hotline is available through phone and text.
    • Naloxone Resources Naloxone is a medication that reverses overdoses from opioids. Explore resource to find out how you can get Naloxone and learn to use it for free.
    • Al-Anon/Alateen Support and assistance for adults and youth who are the relatives & friends of a problem drinker).
    • Alcoholics Anonymous A self-help organization for people struggling with alcohol use, mutual support based on the 12 step model.
    • Marijuana Anonymous A self-help organization for people struggling with marijuana use, mutual support based on the 12 step model.
    • Smart Recovery Self-help for people struggling with various addictions. Mutual support model based on a scientific approach.

    Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex Hotlines

    • The Trevor LifeLine 24/7 support for LGBTQIA questions or concerns.
    • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender National Support Support for individuals identifying as LGBTQIA.
    • Trans Lifeline Peer support service run by transgender people for individuals who are transgender and questioning.

    Intimate Partner Violence, Domestic Abuse and Bullying

    • New York State Family Justice Centers Walk in weekdays, 9-5, to get connected to free and confidential support for victims and survivors of intimate partner violence and domestic abuse.
    • National Domestic Violence Crisis Line 24/7 assistance through phone/chat.
    • NYS Domestic Violence hotline New York State hotline for intimate partner and domestic violence.
    • BRAVEline Hotline provided by the United Federation of Teachers to assist individuals being bullied in the NYC public and charter schools. Receive support and information on how to report effectively. Hotline is available through phone/text/chat.
    • Stopbullying.gov Provides information and training on how to recognize, respond and prevent bullying.
    • National Child Abuse Helpline Offers crisis intervention, information and referrals related to child abuse.

    Self Help

    • Self-Injury Outreach and Support Resources and support for individuals who self-injure and their family and friends.
    • NAMI NYC Metro Offers support to individuals living with mental health concerns and their family and friends.
    • NYC WELL Peer Line 24/7 line where individuals can speak/text/chat with an individual living with mental illness or in recovery from substance use. Contact the NYC WELL hotline and select “Peer”.
    • Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention Supports individuals and families affected by eating disorders.

    Youth & Teen Hotlines

    • Covenant House Assistance for youth/teens to find shelter.
    • National Runaway Safeline 24/7 help for youth, teens who have run away or are thinking about running away and their parents/guardians.

    Pregnancy and Parenting Hotlines

    • Optionline Provides pregnancy support and opportunity to discuss options.
    • Planned Parenthood Empowers individuals to make independent and informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive lives. Provides information and health care.
    • Parental Stress Hotline Offers support to parents/guardians experiencing stress related to their children.

    Other Hotlines

    • Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) Investigates complaints of police misconduct by NYPD officers including use of excessive force, abuse of authority, discourtesy and offensive language.
    • Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) If you are in a hostile work environment/being harassed or discriminated against at work due to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability etc…).
