Early Learning Center
Welcome to the Baruch College Early Learning Center.
The Mission of the Baruch College Early Learning Center, Inc. is to provide childcare services to students who would otherwise not be able to attend college without these services. As part of its Mission, the Center seeks to provide an age-appropriate learning environment for children 2 to 5 with referral and intervention services when needed and to provide student/parents with support as they pursue their degree.
The Early Learning Center (ELC) will expand to offer childcare for infants and toddlers. The program is designed to stimulate children’s interest and sustain curiosity, encouraging their first steps towards engagement with the world. Children at the ELC are actively engaged in exploring their world and in constructing an understanding of their own experiences. The program presents an interdisciplinary, project-approach to curriculum, designed in conjunction with children’s interests and development, offering opportunities for in-depth exploration and research. The daily schedule is set in a play-based learning environment which includes specialized activities, meals and a rest period. The ELC provides nutritious breakfast and snack, while children bring their own lunch.
Early Learning Center Schedule
The Center has relocated to a new space and is in the process of being relicensed by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) to resume operation in the new location. Once reopened, the center will continue to follow the Baruch College’s undergraduate schedule and provide childcare during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- 8:00 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday
- 8:00 am – 12:30 pm Friday
- Summer hours will be based on student-parents’ childcare needs.
Academic Philosophy
The Early Learning Center is committed to working collaboratively with parents, families, educators, and the Baruch community to improve student achievement and increase learning opportunities. This collaborative focus ensures that every child leaves our center with the academic and social-emotional foundation to be successful in school.
