5:00 pm
We’d like to invite you to join our upcoming March Leadership Conversation on Monday, March 7, at 5:00 pm!
Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, millions have been suffering from crisis-level mental health challenges. In New York alone, nearly one in 25 people live with “serious mental illness,” according to the Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health. Black, Latinx, and Asian American/Pacific Islanders, who are less likely to receive care, have been particularly affected. Nonprofit workplaces and the lives of their employees and constituents have been particularly vulnerable.
Please join your Fellow alums, mentors and faculty for a virtual conversation to learn more about this crisis and exchange strategies on how our nonprofit community can best address the increasing stresses among our fellow New Yorkers. We’ll discuss why nonprofit leaders must prioritize the mental health needs of their constituents, staff and communities contextualized in the current environment.
Our guest speaker will be Michael A. Lindsey, Executive Director, McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research. Other guest facilitators are currently TBA.

Queer Workshop: Writing is not a luxury
Thursday, April 28
5:30 – 7:00 pm
In this program, Baruch LGBTQIA+ students will come together to read, write, and create works that draw on their own queer experience through zine making. We will be creating a unique one of a kind zine. All you need is one sheet of paper, scissors, and something to write/draw with. Together with these tools we learn to flesh out ideas and spread them into a small scale book form. We will delicately look at the history of zines and see how knowledge outside of the mainstream media has been disseminated and used for survival within queer cultures as well as other underrepresented groups. This practice continues today. Through this workshop, you will gain the agency to step into it and write your way closer towards freedom.
