Electronic Textbooks
If you are a student with Alternative-Format Electronic Textbooks as a Reasonable Accommodation, please read the information below.
Students are encouraged to purchase their textbooks in an electronic format as there will be a greater chance for accessibility, and delivery is almost instantaneous. Many textbooks are widely available in electronic format to be purchased directly from the following sites:
Redshelf and VitalSource are working directly with textbook publishers to make textbooks accessible with assistive technologies such as screen readers and text-to-speech readers.
E-Text Request through Student Disability Services
If the electronic version or an accessible version of your textbook is not available for purchase, please complete this E-Text Request Form. Student Disability Services will attempt to obtain an accessible format (if available) directly from the publisher. Students must purchase a hard copy of the textbook and provide proof of purchase to Student Disability Services to facilitate this process. The process and the time it takes to obtain accessible textbooks will vary by publisher.
Once we receive the requested textbook from the publisher, the student will be contacted. Students will be asked to sign an agreement from the publisher which will be kept on file.
Please complete this E-Text Request Form in order to help us obtain your textbook in an accessible format.
