The Financial Leadership Program (FLP) is dedicated to the professional development and advancement of high-potential juniors and sophomores interested in careers in finance. The FLP is sponsored by the Starr Career Development (SCDC) offering pre-professional training, leadership and development for high-achieving students at Baruch College with a strong desire to succeed.
The program’s mission is to increase recruiting for Baruch’s diverse and talented students into top financial analyst programs across industries. By providing intensive training on technical, leadership, and professional skills to a select group of top-performing sophomores and juniors, FLP has a history of cultivating successful finance professionals.
FLP has helped students gain entry into premier financial analyst programs at major Wall Street firms such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, UBS, and Credit Suisse among others.
The Financial Leadership Program is proudly sponsored by MUFG. We are deeply grateful to MUFG, the generosity of The Shulman Family Charitable Fund, and the support of 500+ FLP Alumni around the globe.
The Financial Leadership Program is a year-long curriculum. The program’s focus is to provide students with the necessary career skills training to become strong candidates for finance internships during the Summer 2019 and receive full-time offers to join the firm after graduation.
Workshops focus on career management skills including resume writing, networking, and business communication. FLP students benefit from corporate valuation financial modeling provided by Training The Street, dining etiquette, corporate field visits and educational workshops provided by Wall Street professionals.
In addition to the workshops, students have project related assignments working in teams. Regular reading of The Wall Street Journal and other relevant market related publications is an example. When possible, program participants are matched with a mentor ranging from working finance professionals to peer mentors who are senior FLP students at Baruch.Partial

Mentors play a major role in the Financial Leadership Program by guiding students with their internship search and development into successful finance professionals. Each student in the Program is matched with both an alumni mentor and a peer mentor (senior Baruch FLP student). Students also receive invaluable guidance from Dr. David Shulman, a former Wall Street finance executive and the Managing Director of the Financial Leadership Program.
The Financial Leadership Program is always looking for more mentors to help guide our students. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact us.
